Day 1

❖ Reach Chandigarh in the morning till 11 Am

❖ Proceed to Kotgarh (200 km 6 Hrs)

❖ Over Night stay at Kotgarh .

Kotgarh Kotgarh lies 82 km from Shimla and is the apple heartland of Himachal. It was here that Satyanand Stokes, an American missionary, first sowed the apple seed brought from back home and pioneered the apple cultivation revolution in Himachal. The view of the Sutlej River during the day and the enchanting lights of this beautiful valley at night are a photographer's delight.

Tabo:

Tabo is a small town in the Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River in Himachal Pradesh, India. The town lies on the road between Rekong Peo and Kaza (alternative spelling: Kaja), the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti. The town surrounds a Buddhist monastery which, according to legend, is said to be over a thousand years old.

Khab Bridge:

Khab is a small village in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is located in the Sutlej river valley near the India Tibet border. National Highway 5 connects Khab with state capital Shimla. Khab sangam is the confluence of Spiti river and Sutlej river. The Spiti river flowing through the spiti valley here meets the Sutlej, which originates from Mansarovar Lake in Tibet. The ancient monastery of Tashigang Gompa is nearby. The peak of Reo Purgil, which rises to 22,400 feet (6,800 m), is visible and the cold desert of Spiti lies across the nearby bridge.

Geyu:

500 years old, this rare natural mummy belongs to Sangha Tenzin, a Buddhist monk who started the self-mummification process while still living! In 1975, an earthquake in the wind-sculpted Spiti Valley opened up a time-worn tomb in Gue, a little hamlet about 30 miles from the famous Tabo Monastery.

❖ Then proceed to kaza , enroute visit to Dhankar Monestry ,Tanshigang .

❖ Visit to Kaza market in Free Time

❖ Over Night Stay at Kaza.

Kaza:

The town of Kaza or Kaze is the subdivisional headquarters of the remote Spiti Valley in the western Himalayas in the Lahaul and Spiti district of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti is a high altitude or cold desert having close similarities to the neighbouring Tibet and Ladakh regions in terms of terrain, climate and the Buddhist culture. Kaza, situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of 3,650 metres (11,980 ft) above mean sea level, is the largest township and commercial center of the Spiti valley.

Tabo Monastery:

One Of The Best Attractions Well-known for its majestic paintings, Tabo Monastery is one of the ancient places to visit in Spiti valley. It has 9 temples of Tara & Buddha Maitreya and multiple Stupas that are the key attractions of the monastery .Other things worth seeing are various stucco sculptures of Bodhisattvas, marvellous wall paintings, and works of Buddha. Photography is not allowed inside the Gompa premises.

Dhankar Monestary:

Dhankar also pronounced as Dankhar, Drangkhar or Dhangkar literally means fort on the cliff. This monastery is located roughly midway between the Spiti valley towns of Tabo and Kaza. You have to take a detour of about 8 kilometers, but the road is very good. As long as you have your own vehicle, you can easily reach. The elevation is roughly 13000 feet. That means you may face a bit of breathing problem if you are not acclimatized properly.

❖ Overnight Stay at kaza

Hikkim:

Hikkim village has a post office situated at an elevation of 4,400 m (14,400 ft) and this post office is the highest post office in the world. The post office connects small villages in this isolated region to the rest of the world. It receives and sends postal letters. It also acts as a savings bank where villagers can deposit money in their savings accounts or withdraw money. Intrepid travelers make it this far to Hikkim village to take pride in mailing their letters from the highest post office on Earth. The Postal Index Number or PIN of the village is 172114.

Komic:

One of the most famous landmarks of Komic village in Spiti valley is the iconic sign board by the public works department, which describes Komic as the “Highest village in world connected with motorable road”. Komic which literally means “eye of a snow cock” ( Ko – snowcock , mic – eye), is a remote village in Spiti valley. Komic village is situated at an height of 4587 metres or 15027 feet above sea level. Like most of the villages in Spiti valley, most of the residents of Komic practice Budhism. The main reason travelers started visiting Komic was it’s title as the “Highest village in the world connected with a motorable road”. Another reason was it’s close proximity to Langza village (also known as the Fossil Village of India) and Hikkim village (which happens to be the highest village with a post office)

❖ Enrou te visit key Monestry , Chicham bridge, kibber, kunzum pass,Chandratal

❖ Overnight Stay at Chandratal

Key Monastery – For A Spiritual Experience Key Monastery or Kye Gompa is one of the most popular places to visit in Spiti valley, located in the Kaza region. Overlooking the Spiti River at an altitude of 4112 m, Key Monastery is one of the biggest gompas known for the stunning Buddha shrine, ancient books, manuscripts, and murals. With its fort like structure resembling Chinese theme, a gorgeous assembly hall, and charming Tengyur room, Key monastery is surely one of the mesmerizing places to visit in Kaza and Spiti Valley.

Chicham Bridge Chicham Bridge is said to be the Asia highest bridge from sea level at 4.037m (13,244ft). It’s one of the most spectacular bridges in the world. Highest suspension bridge, which took 16 years to be built. Connecting to humanity. This new suspension stiffened steel truss bridge coming up over the 1000 feet gorge and connecting Kibber with Chicham village over Samba Lamba Nallah on Kiato Chicham Kibber road. This suspension bridge was open for vehicles on 15th Aug 2017. It connects Kibber village to Chicham village. Located in the Spiti valley, over the Parilungbi Canyon, the bridge is 113.83 m (373.47 ft) long

Kibber – Awe-Striking Hamlet:

Spiti Valley has some of the most picture perfect hilly hamlets and Kibber is one of them. Frequented by adventure freaks and hard core trekkers, it is surely one of the most picturesque yet challenging places to visit in Spiti valley.Locally called Kyibar, Kibber is a small village located at 4205 m that has its own monastery and Gompa, and offers breathtaking view of the surroundings. It is also an important stop of the Spiti Valley Trek.

Kunzum Pass – Trekkers’ Paradise Snuggled in Kunzum Range at 4590 m, Kunzum mountain pass bridges Kullu and Lahaul Valley with Spiti Valley. This is an important place on the Spiti valley map. The region offers a jaw dropping vistas of Chandrabhaga Range and can be accessed by trekking from Chandratal Lake. The vibrant Buddhist flags and an age old Devi temple enhance the beauty of this topographical wonder.

Chandratal:

If waterbodies bring alive the poet in you, Chadratal is one of the most spectacular places to visit in Lahaul, Spiti Valley. The name has been derived from its crescent moon-line shape. Located near Kunzum Pass, this sparkling scenic wonder is a photographer’s paradise. Also, the crystal blue water surrounded by lush greenery and snow-capped mountains make it an idyllic destination for camping and trekking.

❖ Enroute visit Rohtang pass

❖ Visit to Hedimba temple at Manali.

❖ Leisure time at Manali from evening.

Rohtang pass:

It is a high mountain pass (elevation 3,980 m (13,058 ft)) on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas around 51 km (32 mi) from Manali. It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh, India. The pass lies on the watershed between the Chenab and Beas basins. On the southern side of this pass, the Beas River emerges from underground and flows southward and on its northern side, the Chandra River (flows from the eastern Himalayas), a source stream of the river Chenab, flows westward.
